The Irwindale Parks & Recreation Commission met in regular session at the above time and
place.
ROLL CALL COMMISSIONERS: Terry Chico, Chris Orosco, Olivia
Grijalva, John Fraijo and Chairman Dan Diaz.
Also present: Recreation Director Dennis DeGruccio and
Secretary Rosemary Ramirez.
APPROVAL OF MINUTES
MAY 4, 1994 Upon motion, minutes of May 4, 1994 were approved as
presented.
MOTION: Commissioner Orosco
SECOND: Commissioner Grijalva
JUNE 1, 1994 Minutes of June 1, 1994 were pending.
RECREATION DIRECTOR
REPORT ON ACTIVITIES Recreation Director Dennis DeGruccio reported the
following information with regards to summer activities:
Fishing Trip is sold out; Dodgers vs. Giants baseball game
is sold out; three persons have signed up for lap
swimming; the average number of weekly beach trip
attendants is 50-60; the Catalina trip was canceled due to
lack participants; an overnight trip to Hearst Castle has
been scheduled for July 30, 1994; and, the aerobics class
has 19 participants.
PLAYGROUND EQUIPMENT Commission recommends that the City not go out to bid on
the playground area preparation or the purchase of
playground equipment, but rather allow the public works
department to do this portion of the contract and, accept
this commissions recommendation as to the vendor of the
equipment.

4TH OF JULY HAZARD Commissioner Chico indicated that the park and plaza area
had become a hazard to the public on the 4th of July due
to the fact that persons were igniting fireworks in these
areas. Commissioner Chico recommended that next year,
the police department be asked to take appropriate action
against this violation.
STATUS OF GYMNASIUM Commissioner Orosco requested a status report on the
RENOVATION PROJECT gymnasium renovation project.
FIESTA VOLUNTEERS Chairman Diaz wished to thank all those who volunteered
at the fiesta.
ADJOURN. There being no further matters before the Commission,
meeting adjourned at 7:15 p.m.
