The Irwindale Parks & Recreation Commission met in regular adjourned session at the above time
and place.
ROLL CALL Present: Commissioners: Theresa Chico, Paula Fraijo, Belen
Zepeda, Olivia Grijalva and Chairman Diaz. Also present:
Recreation Director Frank Barbosa and Secretary Rosemary
Ramirez.
APPROVAL OF MINUTES
August 28, 1997 Minutes of September 3, 1997 were approved as presented.

RECREATION DIRECTOR
ACTIVITY UPDATE TINY TOT PROGRAM: Director Barbosa informed the
Commission that the tiny tot program is scheduled to begin on
October 21, 1997. It will be under the direction of the
recreation department with the assistance of the two library
personnel, Lina Campa and Emile Tapia.
FLAG FOOTBALL: Teams for flag football have been
selected. There is a total of thirty-nine children registered
who make up the four teams. Volunteer coaches are Jose
(Pepe) Miranda, Jason Hickman, Andrew Acosta, Dan Diaz,
Mike Diaz and Mike Rodriguez. Volunteer referee is Clifford
Orosco. As always, the department is looking forward to a
fun filled season.
HALLOWEEN PROGRAM: Director Barbosa announced
that he is looking for volunteers to help out with the
Halloween party on Friday, October 31st. Commissioner
Chico and Chairman Diaz volunteered themselves and their
spouses.
Director Barbosa informed the Commission that the evenings
festivities will include bingo games in the banquet room. The
prizes will be gifts (solicited from local businesses). There
will be no money awarded as prizes.
In order to prepare for the Halloween party, it was noted that
the gymnasium will be closed for three days. Commission
requested that the appropriate notices be posted.
