RECREATION CO -COORDINATOR'S
REPORT
CAR SHOW
HALLOWEEN CARNIVAL
Commissioner, Zepeda responded to Ms.
Diaz that the initial plan at this time for the
program, was to introduce to the parents and
the rest of the community what the drug
awareness program would entail and would
also welcome the community's input.
Commissioner Chico added, that one of the
objectives was to have a variety of speakers
and informative material regarding drag
abuse, that would be made available for
distribution at the meeting.
After a brief discussion, it was established
that it was the City Manager's desire to
work with the Commission on this new
program and requested that the scheduled
workshop for November be postponed until
such time he could meet with the
Commission with specific goals and
objectives for this proposed program.
Ms. Delgado reported that the
car show held October 22"d made proceeds
of a little over $1,000. She said she hoped
that with these proceeds the Recreation
Department would be able to purchase drill
team uniforms. This request will be
submitted to the City Council for their
approval.
Attendance for the car show was low this
year compared to last year. Ms. Delgado
was of the opinion that it might be because
trophies were not given out this year.
Ms. Delgado reported that the Halloween
Carnival was a success. The Bingo game
was very popular and made $500. The
snack bar, ran by the parents of the Tiny
Tots, made approximately $400. This
money will be used for the Tiny Tots
program. The Teen Club also raised money
with their Pizza -Walk but Ms. Delgado has
not had the opportunity to count the money
as yet and will report the amount at the next
meeting.

REPLANTING OF PLANTERS IN
THE GAZEBO AREA
PICNIC TABLE AREA
COMMISSIONER ITEM
with the change of weather, he thinks it will
be sufficiently irrigated.
Commissioner Fraijo reminded the Com-
mission of the item of the replanting of the
gazebo area that had been carried over from
the last meeting. At the last meeting, it had
been discussed and decided that the bushes
currently in the planters, are unattractive and
obstructive. Mr. Posada asked the
Commission what their wish was regarding
this matter. Commissioner Chico responded
that they would like the planters cleaned out
and something replanted. Commissioner
Fraijo suggested something colorful,
perhaps ground cover or some other low
growing plant. Something that would allow
people sitting on the planters not to get
hooked or stuck by the branches or bushes
and still be able to view performers at the
various festivities. Mr. Posada assured the
Commission he would look into this.
Commissioner Duran asked if the blue lines
surrounding the picnic tables had been re-
painted. Mr. Posada answered yes.
Commissioner Duran also requested that
larger signs be used to inform the public that
the area was reserved. She suggested that
perhaps a brighter, more colorful sign be
posted. Mr. Grijalva said they would post
larger, brighter paper to see if that would
help.
Commissioner Chico requested the trees in
front of the gymnasium be trimmed. She
also asked about the sign she requested
some time back to designate the recreation
building. Mr. Posada explained to her that
there is currently one adhered to on the front
door. The Council will soon make a
decision on the same design and motif to be
used as a central them for all the signs used
on the various buildings of the city.
