HomeMy WebLinkAbout01492 CITY OF IRWINDALE COUNTY OF LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA ORDINANCE NO. 14 AN ORDINANCE REGULATING THE USE AND PROHIBITING THE OB- STRUCTION OF PUBLIC HIGHWAYS AND SIDEWALKS, AND DECLARING THE URGENCY THEREOF AND THAT THE ORDINANCE SHALL TAKE IMMEDIATE EFFECT. THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF IRWINDALE DOES ORDAIN AS FOLLOWS: SECTION 1. It shall be unlawful for any person to loiter or stand or sit in or upon any public highway, alley, sidewalk or crosswalk so as to in any manner hinder or obstruct the free passage therein or thereon of per- sons or vehicles passing along the same, or so as in any manner to annoy or molest persons passing along the same. SECTION 2. It shall be unlawful for any person to loiter or to stand or sit in or at the entrance of any church, hall, theatre or place of public assemblage so as in any manner to obstruct said entrance. SECTION 3. Any person violating any of the provisions of this Ordinance shall be deemed guilty of a misdemeanor, and upon conviction thereof shall be puni- shable by a fine not exceeding fifty dollars ($50.00), or by imprisonment in the County Jail for a period of not exceeding ten (10) days, or by both such fine and im- prisonment. SECTION 4. The City of Irwindale was incorpor- ated on August 6, 1957, and the City Council thereof has not yet adopted any legislation with respect to the fore- going matters, which affect the peace, health, and safety of the residents of the City of Irwindale. This Ordinance is, therefore, required for the immediate preservation of the public peace, health, and safety, and the same shall take effect immediately upon the passage thereof. SECTION 5. This Ordinance shall take immediate effect after the date of its adoption and same shall be posted in the three public places within the City Limits of the City of Irwindale, as prescribed by Resolution No. 57-1. PASSED and APPROVED this 13th day of August, 1957.
