HomeMy WebLinkAbout020I Q8 CITY OF IRWINDALE COUNTY OF LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA ORDINANCE NO. 20 AN ORDINANCE LICENSING DOGS AND FOR THE REGULATION AND IMPOUNDING OF DOGS AND OTHER ANIMALS. THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF IR14INDALE DOES ORDAIN AS FOLLOWS: SECTION 1. Reference is hereby made to Ordi- nance No. 4729 of the County of Los Angeles, as amended by Ordinances Nos. 4787, 5128, 5134, 6189, 6405, 6469, 6520, 6619, 6937, 6955 and 7084 of said County, known as "The Pound Ordinance," being an ordinance repealing Ordinance Nos. 2550, 2991, and 3266, and providing for the County Pound Department, County Poundmaster, for the licensing of dogs and for the regulation and impound- ing of dogs and other animals. SECTION 2. Said County Ordinance No. 4729, as amended, known as "The Pound Ordinance," is hereby adopt- ed and approved as Ordinance No. 20 of the City of Irwindale. Three copies of said Ordinance No. 4729 of the County of Los Angeles, California, as amended, and in effect as of February 15, 1957, have been deposited with the office of the City Clerk of the City of Irwindale and shall be at all times maintained by said Clerk for use and examination by the public. SECTION 3. Said Ordinance 4729 of the City of Los Angeles as hereinabove adopted as the Pound Ordinance of the City of Irwindale is amended as follows: Wherever in said ordinance, reference is made to the unincorporated area of the County of Los Angeles, such area shall be deemed to include in its true geographical location the area of the City of Irwindale. SECTION 4. The City of Irwindale was incorpor- ated on August 6, 1957, and the City Council thereof has not yet adopted any legislation with respect to the fore- going matters which affect the peace, health, and safety of the residents of the City of Irwindale. This ordinAmk - ance is therefore required for the immediate preservation of the public peace, health, and safety, and the same shall take effect immediately upon the passage thereof. SECTION 5. This ordinance shall take immediate effect after the date of its adoption and the same shall be posted in three public places within the city limits of the City of Irwindale, California, as prescribed by Resolution No. 57-1. On August 27, 1957, he securely and conspicuously posted at each of the public places in said City, to wit: (1) 5140 North Irwindale Avenue (2) Post Office on Irwindale Avenue (3) Southwest corner of Arrow Highway and Irwindale Avenue a copy of Ordinance No. 20 of the City of Irwindale, being in all respects the same as that attached hereto and made a part hereof.
