AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
IRWINDALE AMENDING THE IRWINDALE MUNICIPAL CODE
WITH RESPECT TO THE SPEED LIMIT ON IRWINDALE AVENUE.
The City Council of the City�of iwL' dale does ordain as
follows:
SECTION 1. The Irwindale Municipal Code is hereby amended
by the addition thereto of a new Section 3182 reading as follows;
"3182. Decrease of State Law Maximum Speed. It is
hereby determined upon the basis of an engineering and traffic
investigation that the speed permitted by state law outside of
business and residence districts as applicable upon the follow-
ing streets is greater than is reasonable or safe under the
conditions found to exist upon such streets and it is hereby
declared that the prima facie speed limit shall be as herein
set forth on those streets or parts of streets herein deisg-
nated when signs are erected giving notice thereof:

SECTION 2. The City Clerk shall certify to the passage of
this ordinance and cause the same to be posted in the manner pro-
vided by law.

,- certify that the foregoing Ordinance No. 68 was regularly introduced
and placed upon its first reading at a regular meeting cEthe City Council
on the 3rd day of March, 1959. That, thereafter, said ordinance was
duly adopted and passed at a regular meeting of the City Council on the
17th day of March , 1959, by the following vote, to -wit:
AYES: Councilmen Diaz, Martinez, Miranda, Mayor Ornelas.
NOES: None
ABSENT: Councilwoman Silva

MAXINE HORST, being first duly sworn, deposes and says:
That she is the City Clerk of the City of Irwindale, California,
and is and was at all times herein mentioned a citizen of the United States
over the age of eighteen (18) years and competent to be a witness herein.
On March 19, 1959, she securely and conspicuously posted at each
of the public places in said city, to -wit:
(1) 5140 North Irwindale Avenue
(2) Post Office on Irwindale Avenue
(3) Southwest corner of Arrow Highway and Irwindale
a copy of Ordinance No. 68 of the City of Irwindale, being in all respects
the same as that attached hereto and made a part hereof.
