AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
IRWINDALE AMENDING THE IRWINDALE MUNICIPAL CODE
BY ADDING PART 3 TO CHAPTER 3 ARTICLE VI SECTIONS
6320 AND 6320.1 RELATING TO JUNK YARDS, ETC.
THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF IRWINDALE DOES ORDAIN
AS FOLLOWS:
SECTION 1. The Irwindale Municipal Code hereby is amended
by adding Part 3 to Chapter 3 of Article VI consisting of Sections
6320 and 6320.1 and to read respectively as follows:
6320. Junkyards, Saly a Yards Stor a Yards etc.
Fences. Where any prem sea are used or a purpose o s ori g in
t e open any furniture, contractors' equipment, metal products, oil
or petroleum supplies, junk, wrecked auto parts, partially wrecked
cars, machinery, pipes, plaster, rags, roofing materials, waste
paper, glass, glass bottles, stone products, or rubber, the owner,
licensee, and occupant shall erect and continuously maintain a tight
board fence of at least eight feet in height surrounding the property
in all cases where flammable or combustible materials are stored,
such fence shall be built and maintained of corrugated iron or other
fire resisting materials.
6320.1. Same. The following specifications shall apply
to the erection of ali-fencing frame work for each board, corrugated
iron or other fence referred to in Section 1 hereof, and each such
fence shall comply with such specifications, and each thereof; (a
Each upright post shall be 4 x 4 inches, shall be placed not over
feet apart, and shall be sunk not less than 4 feet into the ground.
Each such post shall be tarred below the surface of the ground. Three
horizontal girts not smaller than 2 x 4 inches with inclined bracing
in both directions shall be provided at each corner and each opening,
and boarding shall be not less than 3/4 inches in thickness. (b)
Each such fence, and each portion thereof, shall be constructed not
less than six inches above the ground, and there shall be maintained
under each portion of such fence an unobstructed opening of not less
than six inches. (c) Provided, that where articles are sold at
retail from the premises there may be erected at the front of such
premises an open wire fence. (d) All material used in the construction
of each such fence shall be of such a nature that that portion of said
fence facing any property line shall not present an unsightly appear-
ance. (e) No advertising shall be displayed on any such fence, except
upon that portion facing the street; provided, that where any such
premises are situated on a corner lot, an advertising sign may be
placed within a distance of 25 feet of the corner, facing the front
property line, and further provided, that where there is vacant prop-
erty on either side of the premises there may be placed on such side
an advertising sign 25 within 25 feet of the front property line,
(f) Where adjacent lots are used for the open storage of any article
or material mentioned in Section 6320, or where an adjacent lot is
occupied by a building with a wall built on a portion of the common
property line, the provisions of Section 6320 shall not apply along
such portion of such common property line.
SECTION 2. The City Clerk shall certify to the passage
Ordinance No. 80
of this ordinance and cause the same to be posted in the manner
required by law.

I, MAXINE HORST, City Clerk of the City of Irwindale, do
hereby certify that the foregoing Ordinance No. 80 was regularly
introduced and placed upon its first reading at a regular meeting
of the City Council on the 3 day of November , 1959. That,
thereafter, said ordinance was duly approved and passed at a regular
meeting of the City Council on the 17 day of November , 19591
by the following vote, to -wit:
AYES: Councilmen: Diaz, Martinez, Miranda, Silva, Ornelas.
NOES: Councilmen: None
ABSENT:Councilmen: None

MAXINE HORST, being first duly sworn, deposes and says:
That she is the City Clerk of the City of Irwindale, California,
and is and was at all times herein mentioned a citizen of the United States
over the age of eighteen (18) years and competent to be a witness herein.
On November 22, 1959, she securely and conspicuously posted at each
of the public places in said city, to -wit:
(1) 5140 North Irwindale Avenue
(2) Post Office on Irwindale Avenue
(3) Southwest corner of Arrow Highway and Irwindale
a copy of Ordinance No. 80 of the City of Irwindale, being in all respects
the same as that attached hereto and made a part hereof.
