AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF IRWINDALE AMENDING SECTION.3182 OF THE.
IRWINDALE MUNICIPAL CODE AND REDUCING THE.
SPEED LIMIT ON RIVERGRADE ROAD FROM 55 MILES
PER HOUR TO 40 MILES PER HOUR AND PROVIDING
FOR THE IMMEDIATELY ADOPTION THEREOF.
THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF IRWINDALE DOES ORDAIN:
SECTION I. The City Council of the City of Irwindale
hereby finds and determines that the maximum speed limit of 65
miles per hour on Rifergrade Road between Live Oak, Avenue and
San Bernardino Read is unrealistic and should be reduced to 40
miles per hour.
SECTION 2. Section 3182 of the Irwindale Municipal Code
is hereby amended in part to read as follows:
"Rivergrade Road between Live Oak
Avenue and San Bernardino Road 40 Miles per hour"
All the other provisions of Segtion 3182 of the Irwindale
Municipal Code are,hereby confirmed and said Section shall be
changed only in the portion set forth above.
SECTION 3. It is hereby found and determined by the City
Council of the City of Irwindale that 55 miles per hour as a
maximum speed limit on Rivergrade Road between Live Oak Avenue and
San Bernardino Road is a dangerous speed limit, is unrealistic due
to the engineering conditions of said roadway, and has so been
proven by the high cost of human life as a result of such high
speed limit, to wit two persons have been,killed,as the result of
high speed accidents on said read so far during the kear 1963.
Furthermore, the City Council declares this to be an emergency
ordinance for the immediate enactment hereof, and that the same is
necessary to the public health, safety and welfare. .
SECTION 4. The Mayor shall sign this Ordinance and the
City Clerk shall attest to same, and the same shall be posted
Immediately thereafter in three (3) public places within the City
Limits of the City_ of Irwindale, as prescrftied by Resolution.

City of Irwindale, California, and is and was at all times -herein
mentioned a citizen of the United States over the age -of eighteen

On July 29 19639 she securely and conspicuously posted
at each of the public places in said City, to -wit:
(1) 16034 Calle de Norte;
(2) Post Office on Irwindale Avenue; and
(3) At or near the door of the Council Chambers,
5050 North Irwindale Avenue.
a copy of Ordinance No. 134 of the City of Irwindale, being in
all respects the same as that attached hereto and made a part
hereof.
