HomeMy WebLinkAbout148119 t r ..^' Pi.r It !✓.! , ORDINANCE NO. 148 AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF IRWINDALE ADOPTING A COMPREHENSIVE ZONING ORDINANCE AND ZONING MAP AND REPEAL- ING CHAPTER 1 OF ARTICLE IX OF THE IRWINDALE MUNICIPAL CODE. THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF IRWINDALE DQPSS ORDAIN: SECTION 1. The City Council does hereby find and determine that it has initiated by resolution, a Zoning Ordinance and Zoning Map set forth in Section 4 hereof, in accordance with Section 65656 of the Government Code of the State of California; that said Zoning Ordinance and Zoning Map have been referred to the Planning Commiss- ion of the City of Irwindale for a report; that the Planning Commission has held one public hearing in the manner prescribed by law on said Zoning Ordinance and Zoning Map; that the Planning Commission has made their report and recommendation to the City Council within the time period alloted by the City Council for such report and recommendation; and that in all respects Sections 65656, 65657, 65658, and 65659 of the Government Code of the State of California have been complied with. SECTION 2. The City Council does hereby find and determine that the City of Irwindale is primarily an industrial and quarrying City; that the areas convenient for industrial, manufacturing and commercial uses of land should be zoned in accordance with the existing uses, and public necessity and convenience in relation there- to; that within the City limits of the City of Irwindale is one of the largest rock, sand and gravel deposits in the San Gabriel Valley, and the areas appropriate for the excavation for rock sand and gravel should be zoned in accordance with the existing uses and the nature of such deposits; that there now exists certain residential areas which are presently being used for residences and other limited areas which would be ideal for the future development of residences and should be zoned in accordance therewith; that in addition to the foregoing finding there is a need for the orderly planning, use and zoning of the land within the City of Irwindale so that the future development within the City will be of the highest and best use of such property and in the best interests of the City of Irwindale; and therefore that it is necessary and in the best interests of the City of Irwindale that a Comprehensive Zoning Map and Zoning Ordin- ance be adopted for the existing and future uses of property within the City. SECTION 3. Chapter 1 of Article IX of the Irwindale Municipal Code is hereby repealed, and the Zoning Ordinance and Map as set forth in Section 4 hereof replaces said Chapter. SECTION 4. The "IRWINDALE ZONING ORDINANCE" attached hereto as Exhibit "A" and incorporated herein as though set forth in full at this point, including the "ZONING MAP" as incorporated therein in Section 9021.01 thereof, be and the same are hereby adopted as a part of the Irwindale Municipal Code as Chapter 1 of Article IX as Sections 9010.01 et sequitur. SECTION 5. The Mayor shall sign this Ordinance and the City Clerk shall attest to same, and the same shall be posted immediately '12�D thereafter in three (3) public places' -within the City Limits of the City of Irwindale, as prescribed by law. That, there- after, s$§d Ordinance was duly adopted and passed at an adjourned meeting of the City Council on the 8th day of September, 1964, by the following vote, to wit: AYES: COUNCILMEN: Miranda, Sulzer and Mayor Dias. NOES: COUNCILMEN: Breceda, and Martinez. ABSENT: COUNCILMEN: None. STATE OF CALIFORNIA ) COUNTY OF LOS ANGELES ) ss. CITY OF IRWINDALE ) LEE B. YOUNG, being first duly sworn, deposes and says: That she is the duly appointed and City Clerk of the City of Irwindale, California, and is and was at all times herein mentioned a citizen of the United States over the age of eighteen (18) years and competent to be witness herein. On September 10, 1964, she securely and conspicuously posted at each of the public places in said City, to wit: 1. 16034 Calle De Norte; 2. Post Office on Irwindale Avenue; and 3. At or near the door of the Council Chambers, 5050 North Irwindale Avenue. a copy of Ordinance No. 148 of the City of Irwindale, being in all respects the same as that attached hereto and made apart hereof.
