ORDINANCE NO. 171
AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF IRWINDALE AMENDING ZONING REGULATIONS
RELATING TO A-1 ZONED PROPERTIES WITHIN THE
CITY, AND DECLARING THIS ORDINANCE TO BE AN
URGENCY ORDINANCE.
FOLLOWS: THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF IRWINDALE DOES ORDAIN AS
SECTION 1. That pursuant to the recommendations of the
Planning Commission of the City of Irwindale, Sections 9436 and 9437
of the Irwindale Municipal Code relating to zoning regulations
applicable to A-1 zoned properties, are hereby amended to read as
follows:
"9436. Lot Area. The minimum required lot area in Zone A-1
shall be not less than 5,000 square feet."
"9437. Lot area Per dwelling. The minimum lot area per
dwelling unit shall be not less than 5,000 square feet."
SECTION 2. That this ordinance is declared to be an urgency
ordinance to take effect immediately. A statement of facts constituting
such urgency is as follows:
(a) That staff and Commission studies have indicated the
necessity for changes the A-1 zoned properties, as above set forth;
and
(b) That the present regulations relating to lot area and
to lot area per dwelling unit pertaining to A-1 zoned properties were
radically changed by the adoption of Ordinance No. 163, the same
having been adopted on May 4, 1965; and
(c) That said regulations require a 30,000 foot minimum lot
size which is not consistent with the public interest, convenience and
necessity and has had the effect of el.iminating A-1 zoned properties
within the City; and
(d) That if this ordinance does not take effect immediately,
irreparable harm will be done to the City and its residents.
SECTION 3. That the City Clerk shall certify to the adoption
of this Ordinance and cause the same to be posted in the manner
prescribed by law.

introduced, adopted and passed at a regular meeting of the City Council
on the 2nd day of November, 1965, by the following vote:
