r AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF
/ IRWINDALE, ADOPTING AMENDMENTS
TO THE MUNICIPAL CODE AND ZONING
MAP RELATING TO OUTDOOR ADVERTISING
STRUCTURES.
THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF IRWINDALE DOES ORDAIN:
SECTION 1. Section 8501 of the Irwindale Municipal Code is
amended to read as follows:
Sec. 8501. Advertising.Displays Adiacent to
Landscaped Freeways. No advertising displays shall be
placed or maintained in property adjacent to a section
of freeway which has been landscaped as defined herein,
if the advertising display is designed to be viewed
primarily by persons traveling on such landscaped section
of a freeway.
SECTION 2. Section 9602 is amended to read as follows:
Sec. 9602. Limitations on Uses. No person shall
use, locate, construct or maintain an outdoor advertising
structure on any property except in an S -Zone. The location
and maintenance of outdoor advertising structures on such
properties, shall comply with the following regulations:
(1) Sign Face Area. The area of an outdoor
advertising structure which is utilized for advertising per
se, shall not exceed 800 square feet, unless a conditional
use permit therefor is first obtained; and
(2) Height. No advertising structure shall exceed
an overall height of 35 feet, measured (a) from the finished
grade of the roadway adjacent to the lot on which the
structure is located and from which the advertising display
is designed to be viewed, or (b) from the finish grade of the
base of the sign, whichever is higher; and
(3) Location. Outdoor advertising structures shall
be located in compliance with the following:
(a) No outdoor advertising structure shall be
located upon any public property or right-of-way except with
the written consent of the City Council of City; and
(b) No outdoor advertising structure shall be
located within 20 feet of the front lot line, nor within
5 feet of the side lot line, of the lot upon which the same
is located; and
(c) No outdoor advertising structure shall here-
after be located within 3 feet of any other building except
that bi-directional outdoor advertising structures may be
located adjacent to one another, if the distance between the
same does not exceed 6 feet; and

(d) No outdoor advertising structure (a
bi-directional outdoor advertising structure shall be
deemed to be a single structure for the purpose of this
section) shall be located within 300 feet of any other
outdoor advertising structure, whether or not such
structures are located on the same lot, except that
structures adjacent to a freeway shall be spaced at least
500 feet apart.
SECTION 3. Exhibits "A" and "B" of Ordinance 224 are hereby
amended to read as set forth on Exhibits "A" and "B" attached
j hereto and made a part hereof.
SECTION 4. All of the foregoing amendments have been processed
in accordance with the Planning Law of the State of California and
are based upon the recommendations of the Planning Commission of
this City.
SECTION 5. The City Clerk shall certify to the adoption of
this Ordinance and shall cause the same to be processed in the
manner prescribed by law.

Those portions of land in the City of Irwindale, County of
Los Angeles, State of California, described as follows:
Parcel 1
.,A strip of land 100 feet in depth the southerly line of which
is the northerly line of Foothill Boulevard as same existed on
March 25, 1968, extending from the easterly City boundary westerly
to the intersection with the northerly City boundary.
Parcel 2
A strip of land 100 feet in depth the northerly line of which
is the southerly line of Foothill Boulevard as same existed on
March 25, 1968, extending westerly from the easterly City boundary
to the intersection with the northerly City boundary.
Parcel 3
A strip of land 100 feet in depth the westerly line of which
is the easterly line of Irwindale Avenue as same existed on
March 25, 1968, extending from the centerline of Foothill Boulevard
on the north to the City boundary on the south, at First Street.
Parcel 4
A strip of land 100 feet in depth the, easterly line of which
is the westerly line of Irwindale Avenue as same existed on
March 25, 1968, extending• from the centerline of Foothill Boulevard
on the north to the City boundary on the south, at First Street.
Parcel 5
A strip of land 200 feet in depth the westerly line.of which
is the easterly line of the 605 Freeway as the same existed on
February 1, 1971,. extending from the most southerly City boundary
to the northerly City boundary.
Parcel 6
A strip of land 200 feet in.depth the easterly line of which
is the westerly line of the 605 Freeway as the same existed on
February 1, 1971, extending from the most southerly City boundary
to the northerly City boundary.
Parcel 7
A str-ip of land 100 feet in depth the northerly line of which
is the southerly line of Live Oak Avenue as same existed on
March 25, 1968, extending from the westerly City boundary easterly
to the intersection with Arrow.Highway then continuing southeasterly
to the City boundary as same exists at the intersection of Rivergrade
Road and Live Oak Avenue.
