ORDINANCE NO. 256 �1 .
AN ORDINANCE AMENDING SECTION 8150 ET SEQ.
OF THE CITY OF IRWINDALE BY REFERENCE OF
THE LOS ANGELES COUNTY MECHANICAL CODE AS
CONTAINED IN THE 1971 EDITION OF THE LOS
ANGELES COUNTY BUILDING LAWS PUBLISHED BY
THE BUILDING NEWS, INC. AND INCLUDING THE
APPENDIX THERETO AND MAKING OTHER AMENDMENTS
THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF IRWINDALE DOES ORDAIN
AS FOLLOWS:
SECTION 1. Section 8150 et seq, entitled "Mechanical
Code" is hereby amended by adopting by reference, except as
hereinafter provided, that certain Mechanical Code known and
designated as the Los Angeles County Mechanical Code as con-
tained in the 1971 edition of the Los Angeles County Building
News, Inc., and including the appendix to said Los Angeles County
Mechanical Code and such code, except as herein provided, shall
be and become the Mechanical Code of the City of Irwindale,
providing for the issuance of permits and the collection of fees
therefor and providing penalties for violation of such code.
Three copies of said Los Angeles County Building Laws
have been deposited in the office of the City Clerk of the City
of Irwindale and shall be at all times maintained by said
Clerk for use and examination by the public.
SECTION 8151. Whenever any of the following names or
terms are used in said Los Angeles County Mechanical Code, each
such name or term shall be deemed and construed to have the
meaning ascribed to it in this section as follows:
"Board of Appeals" or "Board of Examiners of
Plumbers" shall mean the Board of Examiners of
Plumbers, Gas Fitters, and Sewerage Contractors
of the County of Los Angeles established by
Section 73 of the Los Angeles County Plumbing
Code as published in the 1971 edition of the Los
Angeles County Building Laws previously referred
to in this ordinance.
"Building Department" shall mean the "Building and
Safety Division" of the Department of County
Engineer.
"Building Code", Uniform Building Code" or Los
Angeles County Building Code" shall mean Section 8100
of the City of Irwindale entitled Building Code.
"Building Official" shall mean County Engineer of the
County of Los Angeles.
"City" shall mean the City of Irwindale.

"Electrical Code" shall mean Section No. 8200
et seq, of the City of Irwindale Municipal Code.
"Fire Code" or "Los Angeles County Fire Code"
shall mean Section 3200 et seq, of the City of
Irwindale Municipal Code.
"General Fund" shall mean the City Treasury of
the City of Irwindale.
"Health Code" or "Los Angeles County Health Code"
shall mean Section 5400 et seq, of the City
of Irwindale Municipal Code.
"Mechanical Code" shall mean the Mechanical
code of the City of Irwindale.
"Plumbing Code" shall mean Section 8300 et seq.
of the City of Irwindale Municipal Code.
SECTION 8152. Section 108,of said Los Angeles County
Mechanical Code is amended to read:
Section 108. Violations and Penalties. It
shall be unlawful for any person, firm or corpo-
ration to erect, install, alter, repair, relocate,
add to, replace, use or maintain heating, venti-
lating, comfort cooling, or refrigeration equip-
ment in the jurisdiction or cause the same to be
done, contrary to or in violation of any of the
provisions of this Code. Maintenance of equip-
ment which was unlawful at the time it was in-
stalled and which would be unlawful under this
Code if installed after the effective date of
this Code, shall constitute a continuing violation
of this Code.
Any person, firm or corporation violating any of
the provisions of this Code shall be deemed guilty
of a misdemeanor, and each such person shall be
deemed guilty of a separate offense for each and
every day or portion thereof during which any
violation of any of the provisions of this Code is
committed, and upon conviction of any such vio-
lation such person shall be punishable by a fine
of not more than $500, or by imprisonment for not
more than six months, or by both such fine and
imprisonment.
The City Clerk shall certify to the adoption of this
Ordinance and shall cause the same to be processed in the
manner prescribed by law.

Irwindale, do hereby certify that the foregoing Ordinance,
being Ordinance No. 256, was introduced at a regular
meeting of the City Council of the City of Irwindale, held
on the 8th day of June, 1972, and was duly passed, approved
and adopted by said Council, approved and signed by the
Mayor and attested by the City Clerk at a regular adjourned
meeting of the said City Council held on the 29th day of
June 1972, by the following vote:
