HomeMy WebLinkAbout290492 ORDINANCE NO. 290 AN ORDINANCE AMENDING ORDINANCE NO. 258 OF THE CITY OF IRWINDALE BY ADOPTING BY REFERENCE THE LOS ANGELES COUNTY ELECTRICAL CODE AS CONTAINED IN THE 1975 EDITION OF THE LOS ANGELES COUNTY BUILDING LAWS AND PUBLISHED BY THE BUILDING NEWS, INC. AND MAKING OTHER AMENAME7NTS . THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF IRWINDALE DOES ORDAIN AS FOLLOWS: SECTION 1. Ordinance No. 258 entitled "Electrical Code" adopted June 29, 1972 is hereby amended by adopting by reference, except as hereafter provided, that certain Electrical Code known and designated as the Los Angeles County Electrical Code as published in the 1975 edition of the Los Angeles County Building Laws published by Building News, Inc. and such code shall be and become the Electrical Code of the City of Irwindale; regulating the installation, arrangement, alteration, repair, use and operation of electric wiring, connections, fixtures and other electrical appliances on premises within the City of Irwindale, and providing for the issuance of permits and the collection of fees therefor. Three copies of said Los Angeles County Building Laws have been deposited in the office of the City Clerk of the City of Irwindale and shall be at all times maintained by said Clerk for use and examination by the public. Said edition of the Los Angeles County Electrical Code, except as hereafter provided, is hereby substituted for, and shall take the place of the Electrical Code set forth in said Ordinance No. 258 and such amending ordinance previously adopted. SECTION 2. Whenever any of the following names or terms are used in said Los Angeles County Electrical Code, each such name or term shall be deemed and construed to have the meaning ascribed to it in this section as follows: "Chief Electrical Inspector" shall mean the County Engineer of the County of Los Angeles except in Section 80-4 of said Electrical Code. "County", "County of Los Angeles" or "unincorporated area of the County of Los Angeles" shall mean the City of Irwindale. "Maintenance Electrician" shall mean a person holding a valid Certificate of Registration as Maintenance Electrician issued by the County of Los Angeles as set forth in Sections 80-10 and 82-8(c) of said Los Angeles County Electrical Code. SECTION 3. Said 82-8 of said Los Angeles County Electrical Code is amended to read as follows: Section 82-8 -- FEES r r E 493 Ordinance No. 290 At the time of filing an.application therefor, a fee shall be paid to_the Chief Electrical Inspector as set forth in this section. However, occupancy corrective work, as defined in Section 306(a) of the Building Code, is exempted from further fees when the total valuation for all the corrective work is under #1,000. (a) Electrical Permit Fees Permits For issuing permits, each ----------------------- $ 4.50 Receptacle, Switch and Lighting -Outlets For receptacle, switch, lighting, or other outlets at which current is used or controlled except services, feeders and meters First 20, each ----------------------------- .40 Additional outlets, each .15 Note: For multi -outlet assemblies, each five feet or fraction thereof may be considered as one outlet. Lighting Fixtures For lighting fixtures, sockets, or other Lamp holding devices. First 20; each ------------------- ------ .40 Additional fixtures, each ---________________ .15 For mercury vapor -type lighting :fixtures, each -- .75 For pole or platform mounted.lighting fixtures, each-- ---------------- ------------------------ .75 For theatrical -type lighting fixtures or assemblies, each ---------------------------- .75 For each temporary lighting or receptacle system used for buildings under construction, decorative lighting, etc., each ------------ 4.50 Residential Appliances For fixed residential appliances or receptacle outlets for same, including wall mounted electric:_ ovens, counter -mounted cooking tops, electric ranges, air conditioners or coolers, space heaters, food waste grinders, dishwashers, washing machines, water heaters, clothes dryers, or motor operated appliances, not exceeding one (1) horsepower (HP) in rating, each -------------------- ---------- 1.50 Note: For other appliances, see Power Apparatus Non -Residential Appliances For self-contained, factory wired, non-residential appliances not exceeding one (1) horsepower (HP), kilowatt (KW), or kilovolt -ampere (KVA), in rating including,medical and dental devices; food, beverage, and ice cream cabinets, illuminated showcases, drinking fountains, vending machines, laundry machines or other similar types of equipment, each ------ 1.50 Note: For other appliances, see Power Apparatus . ............. 494 Ordinance No. 290 Power Apparatus For motors; generators, transformers; rectifiers; synchronous converters; capacitors, indittrial heating, cooking or baking equipment; and other apparatus,,:as follows: Rating in horse power (HP), kilowatts (KW), kilovolt -amperes (KVA), or kilovolt -amperes - reactive (KVAR). Up to and including 1, each ---------- 1.50 Over 1 and not over 10, each -------------- 4.50 Over 10 and not over 50, each ----------- 7.50 Over 50 and not over 100; each ----------- 15.00 Over 100 and not over 500, each ---------- 22.50 Over 500, each ------------------------- 37.50 Note: 1. For equipment or appliances having more than one motor, transformer, heater, etc., the sum of the combined ratings may be used. Busways For trolley feet or Note: 2. These fees include all switches, circuit breakers, contactors, relays and other directly related control equipment. and plug-in type busways, each 100 fraction thereof ------------ 3.00 An additional fee will be required for lighting fixtures, motors and other appliances that are connected to trolley and plug-in type busways. No fee is required for portable tools. Signs, Outline Lighting and Marquees For signs, outline lighting system, or marquees supplied from one branch circuit, each --- --- 7.50 For additional branch circuits within the same sign, outline lighting system, or marquee, each -------------- -------- 1.50 --------------- For separately installed flashers, or timers, each----------------------------------------- 1.50 Services For services of 600 volts or less and not over 200 amperes in rating, each ------------------ 4.50 For services over 600 volts or over 200 amperes in rating, each ----------------------------- 15.00 Temporary Power Service For services supplying a temporary power pole or pedestal including all pole or pedestal mounted receptacle outlets and appurtenances, each --- 7.50 For a system of distribution and utilization poles for temporary construction power, including all pole mounted receptacle outlets and other appurtenances, each system ------------------------------------- 4.50 495 Ordinance No. 290 Miscellaneous Conduits and Conductors For Electrical conduits and conductors for which a permit is required but for which no fee is herein set forth ------------------------------------ 1.50 Note: This fee is not applicable when a fee is paid for one or more services, outlets, fixtures, appliances, power apparatus, busways, signs or other equipment. Other Inspections For each extra inspection resulting from defective workmanship or materials, each --------------- 7.50 For inspection of electrical equipment for which no fee is herein set forth and for emergency inspections for the time consumer per hour ------ 15.00 With a minimum charge for one-half hour or less ---- 7.50 SECTION 4. Section 84-1 of the Electrical Code of the City of Irwindale shall read as follows: Section 84-1. Violations and Penalties. Every person who violates any of the provisions of this Cpde is guilty of a misdemeanor and each such person shall be deemed guilty of a separate offense for each and every day or portion thereof during which any violation of any of the provisions of this Code is committed, continued or permitted and upon conviction is punishable by a fine not exceeding $500 or by imprisonment in the County Jail for a period not exceeding six months or by both such fine and imprisonment. SECTION 5. The City Clerk shall certify to the adoption of this Ordinance and shall cuase the same to be processed in the manner prescribed by law.
