AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF IRWINDALE AMENDING ORDINANCE NO. 288 OF THE
CITY OF IRWINDALE BY ADOPTING BY REFERENCE THE
LOS ANGELES COUNTY PLUMBING CODE AND AMENDMENTS
AS CONTAINED IN THE 1981 EDITION OF THE LOS
ANGELES COUNTY BUILDING LAWS PUBLISHED BY THE
BUILDING NEWS, INC., AND INCLUDING APPENDICES
A, B, C, G AND I, AND MAKING OTHER AMENDMENTS
THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF IRWINDALE DOES ORDAIN AS
FOLLOWS:
SECTION 1. Ordinance No. 288 entitled, "Plumbing Code"
adopted August 14, 1975, is hereby amended by adopting by reference,
except as hereafter provided, that certain Plumbing Code known and
designated as the Los Angeles County Plumbing Code as contained in
the 1981 Edition of the Los Angeles County Building Laws published
by Building News, Inc., including Appendices A, B, C, G and I of
said Los Angeles County Plumbing Code, and such code shall be and
become the Plumbing Code of the City of Irwindale, regulating
plumbing and drainage system, house sewers, private sewage dis-
posal systems, and prescribing conditions under which such work
may be carried on within the City of Irwindale, and providing for
the issuance of permits and the collection of fees therefor.
Three copies of said Los Angeles County Building Laws have
been deposited in the office of the City Clerk of the City of
Irwindale and shall be at all times maintained by said Clerk for
use and examination by the public.
Said Edition of the Los Angeles County Plumbing Code, except
as hereafter provided, is hereby substituted for, and shall take
the place of, the Plumbing Code set forth in said Ordinance No.
288 and such amending ordinance previously adopted.
SECTION 2. Whenever any of the following names or terms are
used in said Los Angeles County Plumbing.Code, each such name or
term shall be deemed and construed to have the meaning ascribed
to it in this section as follows:
"Administrative Authority", "Chief Plumbing Inspector" or
"Plumbing Inspector" shall mean the County Engineer of the County
of Los Angeles except in Section 4 of said Plumbing Code.
"Board of Examiners of Plumbers, Gas Fitters and Sewerage
Contractors" or "Board of Examiners" shall mean the Board of
Examiners of Plumbers, Gas Fitters, Sewerage Contractors of the
County of Los Angeles, established by Section 73 of the said Los
Angeles County Plumbing Code.
"City" shall mean the City of Irwindale except in Section 3
of said Plumbing Code.
"County", "County of Los Angeles" or "unincorporated territory
of the County of Los Angeles" shall mean the City of Irwindale.
"Gas Fitting Contractor", "Journeyman Gas Fitter", "Journeyman
[!{ Plumber" or "Plumbing Contractor", shall mean a person holding a
valid Certificate of Registration issued by the County of Los
Angeles as set forth in Sectin 72 of said Los Angeles County
Plumbing Code.
SECTION 3. Section 324 of the Plumbing Code of the City of
Irwindale read as follows:
"County", "County of Los Angeles" or "unincorporated territory
of the County of Los Angeles" shall mean the City of Irwindale.

"County Engineer" shall mean the County Engineer of the County
of Los Angeles.
"Electrical Code" shall mean Ordinance No. 322 of the City
of Irwindale.
"Fire Code" shall mean Ordinance No. 236 of the City of
Irwindale.
"Fire Zone" shall mean the fire zone adopted by an ordinance
creating and establishing fire zones or where no such fire zones
have been adopted by the City of Irwindale shall be considered to
be in Fire Zone No. 3.
"General Fund" shall mean the City Treasury of the City of
Irwindale.
"Health Code" or "Los Angeles County Health Code" shall mean
Ordinance No. 218 of the City of Irwindale.
"Health Officer" shall mean the Health Officer of the City
of Irwindale.
"Plumbing Code" shall mean Ordinance No. 355 of the City
of Irwindale.
"Special Inspector" shall mean a person holding a valid certifi-
cate of Registration issued by the County of Los Angeles as set forth
in Section 305 (b) of said Los Angeles County Building Code.
Section 324. Violations and Penalties. Every person who
violates any of the provisions of this Code is guilty of a mis-
demeanor, and each such person shall be deemed guilty of a
separate offense for each and every day or portion thereof during
which any violation of any of the provisions of this Code is
committed, continued, or permitted, and upon conviction is punish-
able by fine not exceeding $500., or by imprisonment in the County
Jail for a period not exceeding six months, or by both such fine
and imprisonment.
SECTION 4. The City Clerk shall certify to the adoption of
this Ordinance and shall cause the same to be processed in the
manner prescribed by law.
