AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF IRWINDALE AMENDING SECTION 10.40.040 OF THE
IRWINDALE MUNICIPAL CODE REGARDING PRIMA FACIE
SPEED LIMITS UPON CERTAIN CITY STREETS.
A. Recitals.
(i) California Vehicle Code § 22358 provides that this
City Council may, by ordinance, set prima facie speed limits upon
any portion of any street not a state highway.
(ii) The City Traffic Engineer, has caused an
engineering and traffic survey to be conducted of certain streets
within the City of Irwindale, which streets are specified in Part
B. of this Ordinance. Said engineering and traffic survey is
dated December 6, 1994.
(iii) The determinations concerning prima facie speed
limits set forth in Part B., below, are based upon the
engineering and traffic survey identified in Section A. (ii),
above.
B. Ordinance.
NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
IRWINDALE DOES HEREBY ORDAIN AS FOLLOWS:
SECTION 1. Section 10.40.040 of the Irwindale
Municipal Code hereby is amended to read, in words and figures,
as follows:
1110.40.040 Speed limits --Specified for certain
streets. It is determined upon the basis of an
engineering and traffic investigation that the speed

permitted by state law outside of business and residence
districts, as applicable upon the following streets, is
greater than is reasonable or safe under the conditions
found to exist upon such streets and it is declared that
the prima facie speed limit shall be as set forth in
this section on those streets or parts of streets
designated below when signs are erected giving notice
thereof:

SECTION 2. The City Clerk shall certify to the passage
of this Ordinance and shall cause the same to be published in the
manner prescribed by law.
