AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF IRWINDALE
AMENDING ORDINANCE NO. 569 ESTABLISHING A SENIOR CITIZEN
COMMISSION AND PRESCRIBING ITS POWERS AND DUTIES
RECITALS
WHEREAS, on July 9, 2003, the City Council of the City of Irwindale
adopted Ordinance No. 569 establishing a Senior Citizen Commission and
Prescribing its Powers and Duties; and
WHEREAS, the City Council wishes to clarify the procedures for
nominating members of the Senior Citizen Commission by making such
procedures consistent with those for selecting Planning Commission members
under Irwindale Municipal Code Section 2.32.020; and
WHEREAS, the City Council wishes to amend Ordinance No. 569, as set
forth herein to clarify such procedures.
NOW, THEREFORE, the City Council of the Irwindale does ordain as follows:
SECTION 1. The above recitals are true and correct.
SECTION 2. The City Council hereby amends Section 1 of Ordinance No. 569
establishing a Senior Citizen Commission, in its entirety, to read as follows:
There is hereby established a Senior Citizen
Commission in and for the City of Irwindale consisting
of five members to be appointed pursuant to the
provisions of Section 2 below.
SECTION 3. The City Council hereby amends Section 2 of Ordinance No. 569
describing the procedure for nominating members of the Senior Citizen
Commission, in its entirety, to read as follows:
Each member of the Senior Citizen Commission shall
be appointed pursuant to the procedures for
appointment of Planning Commission members under
Section 2.32.020 of the Irwindale Municipal Code. No
person shall be eligible for appointment to the Senior
Citizen Commission unless he or she is a resident,
age fifty years or older and a registered, qualified
voter of the City at the time of appointment. At all
times during such Commissioner's term of office he or

she shall continue to be a resident and a registered,
qualified voter of the City.
SECTION 4. Except as expressly modified pursuant to this Ordinance, all
provisions of Ordinance No. 569 shall remain unmodified and in full force and
effect.
SECTION 5. The Deputy City Clerk shall certify to the passage of this ordinance
and cause the same to be posted in the manner provided by law.

meeting of the Irwindale City Council held on the 11"' day of August 2003, and
was duly approved and adopted on second reading at its regular meeting held on
the 25"' day of August 2003, by the following vote of the Council:
