ORDINANCE NO. 258
AN ORDINANCE AMENDING SECTION 8200, ET SEQ,
OF THE CITY CODE OF THE CITY OF IRWINDALE BY
ADOPTING BY REFERENCE THE LOS ANGELES COUNTY
ELECTRICAL CODE AS CONTAINED IN THE 1972
- •-EDITION OF THE LOS ANGELES COUNTY ELECTRICAL
CODE AND PUBLISHED BY THE BUILDING NEWS, INC.
AND MAKING OTHER AMENDMENTS
THE CITY COUNCIL OF -THE CITY OF IRWINDALE DOES ORDAIN
AS- FOLLOWS:
SECTION 1. Section 8200, et seq., of the Irwindale City
Code entitled "Electrical Code" is hereby amended by adopting
by reference-,; except as hereafter provided, that certain
Electrical Code known and designated -as the Los Angeles County
Electrical Code as published in the 1972 edition of the Los
Angeles County Electrical Code published by Building News, Inc.
and such code shall be and become the Electrical Code of the
City of Irwindale; regulating the installation, arrangement,
alteration, repair, use and operation of electric wiring,
connections, fixtures and other electrical appliances on
premises within the City of Irwindale, and providing for the
issuance of permits and the collection of fees therefor.
Three copies of said Los Angeles County Electrical Code
have been deposited in the office of the City Clerk of the
City of Irwindale and shall be at all times maintained by said
clerk for use and examination by the public.
Said edition of the Los Angeles County Electrical Code,
except as hereafter provided, is hereby substituted for and
shall take the place of the Electrical Code set for-th in
said Section 8200, et seq.
SECTION 2. Whenever any of -,the following names or terms
are used in said Los Angeles County Electrical Code, each such
name or term shall be deemed and construed"to have the meaning
ascribed,to it in this section as follows:
"Chief Electrical Inspector" shall mean the County
Engineer of the County of Los Angeles except in
Section 1.04 of said Electrical Code.
"County", "County of Los Angeles" or "unincorporated
area of the County of Los Angeles" shall mean the
City of Irwindale.
"Maintenance Electrician" shall mean a person holding
a valid Certificate of Registration as Maintenance
-Electrician issued by the County of Los Angeles as
set.forth in Sections 3.04(b) and 3.08(c) of said
Los Angeles County Electrical Code.
SECTION 3. Section 5.01 of the Electrical Code of the
City of Irwindale shall read as follows:

Sections 5.01 Violations and Penalties. Any
person firm or corporation.violating any of the
provisions of this ordinance shall be punishable
by a fine of not more than $500 or by imprisonment in
the County .Jail for a period of not more than six
months, or by both such fine and imprisonment.
Each person, firm or corporation violating any of
the provisions of this ordinance shall be deemed
guilty of a separate offense for each day or
portion thereof during pohich-isuch,.violati on
continues and shall be punishable therefor.as
herein provided.
The City Clerk shall certify to tYe adoptioq of this
Ordinance and shall cause the same to be processed in the
manner prescribed by law.

Irwindale, do hereby certify that the foregoing Ordinance,
being Ordinance No.. 258, was introduced at a regular meeting
of the City Council of the City of Irwindale, held on the
224th day of August, 1972-, and was duly passed, approved and
adopted by said council, approved and signed byrthe Mayor and
attested by the City Clerk at a regular meeting of the said
City Council held on the 14th day of Sept. 1972, by the following
vote:
AYES: Councilmen: R. Breceda, Joe Breceda, Chico
and Diaz
NOES: Councilmen: None
ABSENT: Councilman: M. Miranda
