AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
IRWINDALE AMENDING § 2.28.010 OF CHAPTER 2.28
AND § 2.32.020A OF CHAPTER 2.32 OF TITLE 2 OF
THE IRWINDALE MUNICIPAL CODE PERTAINING TO THE
APPOINTMENT OF COMMISSIONERS.
The City Council of the City of Irwindale does ordain
as follows:
Section 1.
Section 2.28.010 of Chapter 2.28 of Title 2 of the
Irwindale Municipal Code hereby is amended to read, in words and
figures, as follows:
112.28.010. Appointment by Council.
"Each member of the Park and Recreation Commission
shall be nominated to fill a position on said
Commission. The first nomination to fill a vacancy
shall be made by the Mayor. If the first nominee fails
to receive three (3) affirmative votes of the City
Council, subsequent nominations may be made by any
member of the City Council, excluding the Mayor. In the
event no nominee receives three (3) affirmative votes,
after all members of the City Council have made a
nomination, the Mayor may then make another nomination,
followed by all members of the City Council.
Nominations shall continue to be made in such order
(Mayor first, remaining Council Members next) until a
nominee is approved by three (3) affirmative votes. The
first nominee to be approved by not less than three (3)
members of the City Council evidenced by a resolution
duly introduced and passed by not less than three (3)
affirmative votes thereon shall be appointed to the
Commission."

Sectio n 2.
Section 2.32.020A of Chapter 2.32 of Title 2 of the
Irwindale Municipal Code hereby is amended to read, in words and
figures, as follows:
112.32.020. Members - Appointment - Removal -
vacancies.
"A. The Planning Commission shall consist of five
(5) members. Each member of the Commission shall be
nominated to fill a position on said Commission. The
first nomination to fill a vacancy shall be made by the
Mayor. If the first nominee fails to receive three (3)
affirmative votes of the City Council, subsequent
nominations may be made by any member of the City
Council, excluding the Mayor. In the event no nominee
receives three (3) affirmative votes, after all members
of the City Council have made a nomination, the Mayor
may then make another nomination, followed by all
members of the City Council. Nominations shall continue
to be made in such order (Mayor first, remaining Council
Members next) until a nominee is approved by three (3)
affirmative votes. The first nominee to be approved by
not less than three (3) members of the City Council
evidenced by a resolution duly introduced and passed by
not less than three (3) affirmative votes thereon shall
be appointed to the Commission. No person shall be
eligible for appointment to the Planning Commission
unless he or she is a resident and a registered,
qualified voter of the City at the time of appointment.
At all times during such Commissioner's term of office
he or she shall continue to be a resident and a
registered, qualified voter of the City."
Section 3.
The City Clerk shall certify to the adoption of this
Ordinance and shall cause the same to be published in the manner
prescribed by law.

Irwindale, California, do hereby certify that the foregoing
Ordinance was introduced at a regular meeting of the City Council
of the City of Irwindale held on the 9th day of June ,
1994, and was finally passed at a regular meeting of the City
Council of the City of Irwindale held on the 23rd day of
June , 1994, by the following vote:

and Miranda, J.
