The Irwindale Parks and Recreation Commission met in regular adjourned session at the above time
and place.
ROLL CALL Present: Commissioners: Theresa Chico, Paula Fraijo,
Belen Zepeda, and Chairman Diaz. Also present:
Recreation Director Frank Barbosa, City Engineer Rod
Posada, and Secretary Arline Miranda.
CITY ENGINEER UPDATE City Engineer Rod Posada gave an up -date of the
application that has been submitted to the County, the
Bond issue of 1992. Lee Estrada the grant coordinator.
has accepted the application as presented. Mr. Posada is
preparing a list for the new projects which will be
accomplished with the 1996 grant.
He informed the Commission that bids have been
received from contractors for the repair of the roofs at the
Senior Center and Chamber of Commerce. The carpet
has been stretched and corrected at the Senior Center and
plumbing, electrical problems are being fixed.
RECREATION DIRECTOR Recreation Director Frank Barbosa had the drawing of
the booths for the 16u' of September Fiesta.
He made a brief status report of the days activities which
will include a car and motorcycle show with trophies
given for the best of show and the Mayor's Choice
award. There will be a dance program of the Folklorico
members; there will be a D. J. from 11 o'clock till 4 p.m.;
the Marachis will play at 1 p.m., David Leon and the Lil
Jugs, a blues band., will play at 5 p.m.
SPONTANEOUS Pat Gallardo of 4612 Fraijo St. spoke of her concern of a
COMMUNICATION snow cone concession and whether or not this person
would be allowed to participate with his concession. She
reminded the Commission this is supposed to be for non-
profit organizations only. The Commission assured Ms.
Gallardo this situation would be looked into.
ADJOURNMENT There being no further business, Chairman Diaz
adjourned the meeting to October 7, 1998. The meeting
adjourned at 6:40 p.m.
