The Irwindale PARKS & RECREATION COMMISSION met in regular session at the above time
and place.
ROLL CALL: Present: Commissioners Veronica S. Barbosa-Lara,
Carol B. Hernandez, Belen Zepeda; Vice Chair Paula Fraijo,
Chair Dan Diaz

Also present: Dan Grijalva, Recreation Manager; Mike Rados, Public
Works Manager; and Armando Hegdahl, Records Technician
There were no speakers.
MOTION A motion was made by Vice Chair Fraijo, seconded by
Commissioner Barbosa-Lara, to approve the Consent Calendar. The
motion was unanimously approved.

The following minutes were approved:
1) Regular meeting held January 2, 2008
POOL FACILITY MAINTENANCE ISSUES
Recreation Manager Grijalva discussed the staff report.
VICE CHAIR FRAIJO In response to a question by Vice Chair Fraijo, Recreation Manager
Grijalva advised that the pool was not painted. He added that this
may be considered during budget deliberations.
COMMISSIONER Commissioner Barbosa-Lara suggested designating a break area for
BARBOSA-LARA staff, including a microwave.
RECREATION Responding to a question by Commissioner Barbosa-Lara,
MANAGER GRIJALVA Recreation Manager Grijalva advised that that Snack Bar area was
also inspected and that the air conditioning system is brand new.

MANAGER UPDATE
RECREATION Recreation Manager Grijalva presented the following update
MANAGER GRIJALVA
1) Twenty Lil-Dunkers and 56 Basketball players have registered to
participate in the basketball games, which will begin on February
17.
2) Forty individuals attended the recent ski trip. Although the ski lifts
were closed due to harsh weather conditions, those who attended
received vouchers to return at a future date.
3) Irwindale will host the SCMAF C Division Boys Basketball
Tournament from March 17 through March 20.

QUESTIONS AND
ANSWERS There were none.
COMMISSIONER ITEMS
DISCUSSION HELD Brief discussion was held relating to how personnel matters are
handled; whether the pool can be utilized by the school district for
swim practices; emergency preparedness; repairs and graffiti
removal at the Skate Park; the issuance of citations to those who do
not use helmets when skating at the park; that the Easter Egg Hunt
will be held the Saturday before Easter and that the pool will be open
in June.
ADJOURNMENT There being no further business to conduct, the meeting was
adjourned at 6:28 p.m.
