Commissioner Chico wanted to inform Dan
that people had reported that children had
been in one of the trash bins. Rod assured
her that a close watch has been available
and all hazardous material removed.
FOURTH OF JULY Rod presented an idea to the Commission
for their consideration. This was an idea
that had been suggested by former City
Manager Griego, He thought that perhaps
the City could join forces with the Irwindale
Speedway and encourage the community to
attend the fireworks that the Speedway will
be presenting on their grounds. This was
suggested because the City will be unable

to have fireworks this year due to the
development constructed on the site
formerly used for the fireworks. Some
discussion ensued regarding the traffic
problems that might arise from this event at
the Speedway.
Commissioner Fraijo felt that the 41h of July
crowd wouldn't be interested in leaving a
busy event to attend another busy event at
the Speedway. She recalled to the
Commission of her experience with the
traffic congestion and what a real problem it
was in that area.
Jackie said she was thinking of proposing a
laser show this year in lieu of a fireworks
show. She also reminded the Commission
that the City is having their milleinnium
celebration this 4`h of July and will probably
have many activities that day.
There being no further discussion regarding
this matter, Chairman Diaz adjourned to the
park.
