Program was a great benefit to the community. Covina Valley was
used as the vendor for the first time, and staff did not encounter any
problems with deliveries. Staff members were also trained on the
program and were not required to obtain food handlers' licenses.
COMMISSIONER Commissioner Lopez asked about reimbursement for the Summer
LOPEZ Lunch Program, to which Recreation Manager Grijalva advised that
the state reimbursed the city for all its costs.
VICE CHAIR FRAIJO Vice Chair Fraijo commended the Recreation and Public Works
Departments for keeping the parks and children safe.
LEAD WORKER Maintenance Lead Worker Rodriguez demonstrated a few samples
RODRIGUEZ of the skate stoppers that staff plans on installing at the new fountain
at the park, to which Vice Chair Fraijo suggested choosing stoppers
that have an appealing design to complement the fountain.
VICE CHAIR FRAIJO Vice Chair Fraijo also asked about the frequency that the landscape
at the park gets watered, to which Lead Worker Rodriguez advised
that sprinkler nozzles were recently retrofitted, though these do not
seem to be working properly. Vice Chair Fraijo then suggested
looking into watering the landscaping using reclaimed water. She
thanked staff for keeping the parks well-maintained.
CHAIR DIAZ Chair Diaz commended staff for another successful summer concert
series, and expressed his appreciation of all of staff's hard work.
ADJOURNMENT There being no further business to conduct, the meeting was
