AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF IRWINDALE
AMENDING SECTION 2.56.030 OF THE CITY OF IRWINDALE
MUNICIPAL CODE TO INCREASE THE STIPEND PAID TO SENIOR
CITIZEN COMMISSIONERS
A. RECITALS
WHEREAS, Ordinance No. 569 was adopted on June 9, 2003, thereby
establishing the Senior Citizen Commission.
WHEREAS, the Senior Citizen Commissioners receive a stipend of $50 for each
regular meeting attended.
WHEREAS, at its meeting of March 14, 2019, the City Council expressed its desire
to increase the stipend paid to Senior Citizen Commissioners to $75 for each regular
meeting attended.
WHEREAS, upon first reading on March 27, 2019, the City Council unanimously
voted to increase the stipend from $50 for each regular meeting attended, to $100 for
each regular meeting attended.
WHEREAS, the commissioners are not entitled to any additional compensation,
benefits or reimbursement of any expenses.
WHEREAS, all legal prerequisites to the adoption of this ordinance have occurred.
B. ORDINANCE
NOW, THEREFORE, the City Council of the City of Irwindale does hereby ordain
as follows:
Section 1. The City Council finds that the above recitals are true and correct
and are incorporated herein by this reference.
Section 2. Section 2.56.030 of Chapter 2.56 of Title 2 of the Irwindale Municipal
Code is hereby amended and shall now read as follows (deleted text, if any, is shown in
+r'kn ' h; new text, if any, is shown in bold & italics:
2.56.030 Compensation and Expenses
Members of the senior citizen commission shall receive the sum of fifty dollars
one hundred dollars for each regular meeting of the senior citizen commission
actually attended by each such commissioner, not to exceed a maximum of fifty

dollars one hundred dollars per month. The commissioners shall not be entitled
to any additional compensation or benefits of any kind or reimbursement of any
expenses beyond such fifty dollar monthly sum.
Section 4. The City Clerk shall certify to the passage and adoption of this
ordinance by the City Council of the City of Irwindale and shall cause a summary of this
ordinance to be posted in accordance with Government Code Section 36933, in three
locations in the city, and this ordinance shall take effect thirty (30) days after its passage.
PASSED, APPROVED, AND ADOPTED at a regular meeting of the City Council
of the City of Irwindale this 15th day of April 2019.
